Rangers close to finalising Shankland deal

Latest from Your Site News' Sahil Jaidka:

Rangers are close to finalising a deal for Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.

It is understood the move is in its final stages as he prepares to seal a switch to Ibrox before turning attention to the World Cup.

The Scotland striker returned from a family holiday to agree terms and will put pen to paper on an initial two-year deal until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

Shankland scored 20 goals for Hearts last season, including 16 in the Scottish Premiership, as they missed out on a historic league title on the final day of the season.

It is believed the move for the 30-year-old will be announced as an undisclosed fee, as Rangers activated a clause in his Hearts contract which Shankland signed last year.

Liverpool monitoring teenage talent Eichhorn

Latest from Your Site News' Vinny O'Connor:

Liverpool are among several clubs monitoring the progress of top teenage talent Kennet Eichhorn.

The midfielder broke through into the Hertha Berlin first team this season at just 16 years old.

He made 17 appearances in Bundesliga 2, scoring once. He also scored in the German Cup.

However, Liverpool cannot sign him until he turns 18 in July 2028 and they are not the only top team in Europe tracking him.

The rules that prevent Liverpool from signing him and loaning him elsewhere came in after Brexit, so he can sign for any other club in Europe before his 18th birthday.

Palhinha wants to stay at Tottenham

Joao Palhinha has reiterated his desire to stay at Tottenham.

Palhinha was Spurs hero in their final-day relegation decider at home to Everton on Sunday with his 43rd-minute effort enough to secure a 1-0 win and clinch Premier League survival.

The all-action midfielder also struck the only goal in a vital victory at Wolves last month and Palhinha confessed he would love Tottenham to turn his loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent move.

Palhinha said: I always shared my thoughts. Since the first day I arrived, I feel at home. From the supporters, the crowd. Top club.

Who doesnt want to play for Tottenham and stay here? I have everything here, but this is like a marriage.

What I can say to you is I would really like to be here and I enjoy it a lot this season with this club even being a tough season.

Roberto De Zerbis arrival at the end of March proved crucial for Tottenham and Palhinha, who quickly established himself as a key figure under the Italian with telling contributions against Wolves, Aston Villa and lastly Everton.

De Zerbi again insisted he would 100 per cent want to keep Palhinha at the club on Sunday and Tottenhams option to buy the 31-year-old is 30 million euros (25.8m), Press Association understands.

I think the next season will hopefully be really different and I truly believe (it will), Palhinha insisted.

I think this season will help Tottenham for the future. Analyse the season, what we did wrong, what we did well and I think its a big improvement and a big relief after the season.

And when asked about the summer window, Kroenke told NBC:  "The business never stops. And so, right now there are other teams that are already trying to strengthen to come at us for next season. So we need to be aware of that.

"Weve already had a few conversations about different areas that we think we can improve both on and off the pitch. We are looking forward to getting that going this summer. "
